Finding The Balance

“Getting in balance is not so much about adopting new strategies to change your behaviors, as it is about realigning yourself in all of your thoughts so as to create a balance between what you desire and how you conduct your life on a daily basis.” ~ Wayne Dyer

Life is a balancing act. Family. Friends. Love Relationships. Career. Hobbies. Even when you have your priorities in order, the challenge to keep them there is never-ending. They’re all extremely important, and they all demand your time & energy. Bringing your life into alignment requires finding the balance between meeting your goals & feeding your spirits. As I’ve stated before, your loved ones & your career are important, but you must be sure to make time for yourself. You must make yourself a priority as well and not lose yourself in everyone else’s demands. You’re no good to anyone, including yourself, if your mental, physical, and emotional needs are not being met.

“Like with anything in life, find the balance between too much work and being too lazy; between spending too much and being a scrooge; between being gone all the time and being in each other’s way; between talking each other’s ears off and dead silence.” ~ Christian Olsen

Finding the balance between meeting the emotional needs of your loved ones and ensuring you succeed in your career can be challenging. Success in your career is necessary to ensure your family has a roof over their heads & food on the table. But when you allow the pendulum to swing too far towards your job, your presence in the home will suffer. If you neglect your career responsibilities your work performance will suffer, and you risk not being able to provide for your family. The key to balancing your time and making sure all your bases are covered is to keep the main thing the main thing when allocating your time. Being fully present & giving your undivided attention to each moment is a must. But you must be careful not to spend so much time on one thing the others feel neglected.

“Balance is a feeling derived from being whole and complete; it’s a sense of harmony. It is essential to maintaining quality in life and work.” ~ Joshua Osenga

Goals are important, but don’t allow them to consume you. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured. We can’t allow ourselves to drown in our responsibilities. In between the slaying of life’s dragons, take a nap. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and do absolutely nothing. Be still. Soak in the silence. Life’s responsibilities can be overwhelming, but don’t allow them to consume your every waking thought. Go outside & get some sun. Exercise. Travel. Do whatever brings you peace. Your physical & spiritual well-being play a major role in how you show up in the world. Balance facilitates harmony. Harmony facilitates peace. Peace facilitates joy.

“There is no limit to what great and beautiful things the human being can create with the power of a balanced mind that is open to the inspiration of GOD.” ~ Paul Odafe Akpomukai

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says to everything there is a season…a time for every purpose under heaven. Our purpose in life isn’t singular. You have multiple purposes, and you must learn to recognize the season so you can move into alignment with that season. You must use discernment to know which purpose needs your attention at any given moment. Living a balanced life creates space for divine creativity to flow. Creative flow will enable you to prosper both personally & professionally, enabling you to tap into your unique gifts. A cluttered mind lacks the focus necessary to see the big picture. Being able to see the big picture will enable you to recognize any gaps in your performance, and then adjust accordingly. When your heart & mind is open to the will of God, it creates a breeding ground for the miraculous.
