ARE YOU STUCK IN TRANSITION?
“How long can I sit here not doing the thing I want to do.” ~ Deborah Landau
Growth isn’t linear. It occurs in steps, stages, and degrees. Your ambitions begin in seed form, and through hard work, perseverance, and the grace of God, they sometimes blossom into fruition. When a goal is accomplished it’s easy to become complacent. You get comfortable. The problem with comfort is growth normally comes to a halt during this phase. Instead of the realization of a dream being the prelude to the next phase, it becomes a resting place. Your new seed becomes stuck in transition, attached to what you’ve already accomplished.
“I was consumed, too, not by the dying but by the dead.” ~ Patricia Cornwell
It’s common for people to hang on to dead things. Dead relationships. Dead dreams. You won’t allow yourself to let go & mourn because you’ve been holding on so long, you’d feel empty without it. A part of you has become addicted to the chase. You know it’s a futile pursuit, but it feels more comfortable than starting over again with a new one. You’ve developed “an addiction to your affliction.” The weight of the past makes it difficult to move forward into the future. The constant second guessing of old situations leaves you stagnant. What if you responded differently? What if you had said this instead of that? Life would be so much better if you chose another path…or so you think.
“Fear is the glue that keeps you stuck. Faith is the solvent that sets you free.” ~ Shannon L. Alder
Facing your fears is a must if you’re ever to be truly free. When you’ve been operating in fear for an extended period this can feel easier said than done. Fear can be paralyzing. Fear has killed more dreams than failure ever will. Therefore, the exercising of faith is imperative. Faith in God enables you to embrace the unknown because you know He’s in control. Fear cannot exist in His presence, so it gives you the ability to operate in your divine power. He whom the Son of God sets free is free indeed.
“There is pain in staying the same and there is pain in changing. Pick the one that moves you forward.” ~ Lee Rose & Kathleen McGhee-Anderson
There will be pain & discomfort in this life. How you respond is strictly up to you. You can choose to remain the same, but you’ll never know what you’re capable of if you remain stagnant. You limit your own possibilities when you choose comfort over change. When you choose to remain stuck the seeds of your full potential will never take root, because they will forever be attached to dead things. Embracing change will open the door to a world of possibilities. A world where the seeds of your ambitions have the potential to come in contact with fertile ground. Ground healthy enough to enable the growth cycle to repeat itself. Your legacy is tied to this cycle. When your days upon this earth are no more, your harvest will continue to feed others for generations to come.
